Hypocrite In a Pouffy White Dress

For the nerds:

I really need to stop reading these girlie books, but i just can't help it because they are so funny and bitchy (which i like).

THis is the memoir of a girl who grew up as what some people would call an "attention-seeking (w)hore". When she was a kid, she wanted to be everything, ranging from ballet dancer to stewardess. She loved to shine, and that was partly why all her schoolmates hate her. Then, she dreamed all day about dating rock stars, rescuing the entire school from a sinking ship with the cutest boy in class, and many other episodes that were pretty much the byproduct of her vivid imagination. I thought i was imaginative, but then i read this book and had to acknowledge that there are other powerful minds out there. So read it, it is funny.

This is my favorite passage:

On being hated by her classmates...

"To be fair, I did not exactly do myself any favors either. Socially, I was as much savvy as a wood ant… Of course, if people are already refusing to partner with you for a group project on “Flags of Many Nations,” announcing that you got fourteen A’s on your latest report card isn’t going to win you any fans. If your nom de guerre is already “Blimpo”, raising your hand and saying, “Mrs. Tumbridge, can I write a book report for extra credit?” virtually guarantees that no one will ever notice any of your lurking inner beauty. And feigning surprise when the teacher hands you back a pop quiz—slapping your palm dramatically against your forehead and saying aloud, “Another 100! And I thought I failed!”—well, you might as well make a sign reading “Kick Me” and tape it to your ass yourself. "
